Mr. Chaz Johnson assumed duties as Business Finance and Operations Director for the Joint Tactical Networking Center (JTNC) in September 2018. Chaz is the principal advisor to the JTNC Director for all strategic Financial and Operations activities within the organization. Mr. Johnson’s duties include oversight of the JTNC’s full range of Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) activities, JTNC Facilities and Operations, Personnel and Contracts.
Previously, Mr. Johnson served as the Deputy Business Financial Manager (BFM) for the JTNC and Joint Tactical Networks (JTN) program. As Deputy BFM, Mr. Johnson was responsible for Budget and Execution oversight of both the JTNC (Program of Record) and JTN Acquisition Category (ACAT) 1D. During this time, Mr. Johnson coordinated and delivered the fiscal and budgetary stand up of the JTNC, as well as the dissolution and transition of JTN to disparate Navy and Army commands.
Prior to this, Mr. Johnson served as the lead Financial and Acquisition Analyst in the Ground Mobile Radios prior to the program transferring to PM Tactical Radios (PM-TR). Mr. Johnson oversaw the transition of all budgetary and financial execution processes from Department of Navy to Department of Army. Mr. Johnson also served as a Financial Analyst for the Joint Program Executive Office (JPEO) Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) where he managed program office execution and funding dissemination for five (5) ACAT 1 subordinate commands totaling $6.8B in lifecycle cost.
Mr. Johnson enlisted in the United States Navy in 1999 where he served as an Aviation Electronics Technician specializing in Cryptographic Communications Systems. Mr. Johnson’s assignments include Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) in Sigonella, Italy, and Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 8 in San Diego, California, with deployments on the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mr. Johnson was honorably discharged in 2004.
Mr. Johnson holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Walden University. Mr. Johnson has been a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers since 2015 and maintains Level III Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification in Financial Management as well as Level II DAWIA certification in International Acquisition and Facilities Engineering.
